Tepusquet Canyon Vegetation Management Project

Tepusquet Canyon includes underserved communities and low income migrant workers, making this a high priority area from an equity perspective. The proposed vegetation management program would involve multiple components, with some prescribed fire, a lot of roadside hand crew work, a few fuel breaks, and possibly some prescribed grazing. All portions of this project are within SB County jurisdiction, however, there is great potential and need to bridge the area into the Los Padres National Forest (LPNF). The LPNF completed the Brookshire Prescribed Fire Project between 2004 and 2009, which were found to be successful in the containment of the 2009 La Brea Fire.
